A ward-key smithed from basalt and obsidian-toad flux, cast to the exact profile of the Cindervault's outer lock — the gate opens to it, and to nothing else.

Vurath made it for Orin, who ordered it for the Ledger, who wants to be in the vault before anyone else makes a decision about it. It runs warm to the touch when pointed at the mountain — the flux in the casting reacting to the vault's own residual heat, nothing more mysterious than a good thermometer with a handle. Carrying it draws ember-wraiths all the same; the creatures key off the same heat the flux does.
