Chapter 26
Glacier Wyrm
also called ice-borer, Hoarfrost Elder

A scarce wingless dragon of the Northern Rampart that swims through old ice and surfaces where frost-shrikes gather over a kill.
A glacier wyrm has six short digging limbs, a blind wedge of a skull, and clear scales under which its dark blood can be seen. It eats frost-shrikes, rime-stalkers, and anything trapped in a crevasse, then sleeps for years in a chamber melted by its own breath and frozen shut behind it. Hatchlings trail an elder through the same buried run. A Hoarfrost Elder is not a larger wandering beast but the keeper of one old glacier: its tunnels drain meltwater, open sudden sinkholes, and mark a territory no brood shares.
